Mia Albelo has been riding since the age of 4 years old and began
competing at just 6 years old. For the past 11 years, Mia has gone
from earning numerous top-placings at the United States Pony Finals
(2ft) to representing the United States at the international level (5ft).
Mia has made several appearances on United States and Zone 4
teams since 2017, earning numerous team and individual gold medals
in the Children, Pre-Junior, and Junior divisions. Mia has won these
medals all with different teammates and horses, including Cassandra
Dreams, Cocominka EST, and MHS Cardenta. Mia has proved to
thrive at every team position, whether it be Team Anchor or Pathfinder.
Mia notably excels at leading a team and bringing them together. She
is described as a natural leader who excels under pressure. Mia trains
with Olympic Individual Bronze medalist Norman Dello Joio, working towards her goal of competing at the Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, and other 5*
FEI Nations Cup teams representing the United States on the world stage.While working towards her equestrian goals, Mia is also pursuing a
rigorous academic course of study at Ransom Everglades school in
Miami, Florida. Mia attends traditional in-person school where she
maintains an A average and carries a course load of 5 AP classes her
senior year. She earned the College Board AP Scholar with Distinction
Award and the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award for
her standardized test scores. She was named one of 19 Ransom
Everglades National Merit Commended Students. Mia has come to
master time-management and balance, and she has had to make
many sacrifices to continue on her scholar-athlete path. Upon
graduation, Mia intends to pursue a Business Degree at a top
university and continue riding towards her equestrian goals, combining
both her passions and talents.
